The Cape is everywhere and Here’s How to Rock it!!!!!

Hello Style Bunnies,

What you think about CAPE? It’s time to revamp your Indian outfits with one of these exciting options.Indian designers have incorporated it in everything from saris and gowns to skirts and pants. Yo must be seeing it on the trendy aunty at a family get-together, or on a chic office-going girl who wore a cape-cut blouse with formal trousers.

Wearing dupattas is so passe!  More and more people are switching over to capes instead of the dupatta – and why shouldn’t they?  It’s almost like a dupatta but stitched at the shoulder, so once it’s put on, you can walk around carefree. You can team this up with your anarkalis, lehengas or even shararas. Go for a sheer one if you want to show off the bodice a bit more! Capes are more trendy and more comfortable and it gives you a Diva look.

CAPE AS A ACCESSORY

Capes are perfect for layering and if you opt for an embellished, embroidered capes then they act as a perfect substitute for accessories or heavy duty jewels with your outfit. Just wear a cape on your anarkali dress or a western wear and you are ready to flaunt your look.

CAPE AS A DUPATTA

Gone are the days of balancing a heavy dupatta in a wedding function. Designers like Tarun Tahiliani, Neeta Lulla and Ridhi Mehra have made it all very easy with their cape interpretation of the dupatta. It can be worn over a sharara, lehenga or gown and leaves you free from the hassle of having to pin up or hold up your dupatta all through the night. Now you also enjoy your best friend wedding without thinking about how to handle your heavy dupatta or to look for somebody who can set you dupatta.

We all have so many heavy dupattas, especially the one from our wedding functions which are only taking an extra space in our wardrobes. So this is the time ladies to take them out and flaunt them as a cape. You can transform your old wedding lehanga dupatta or any heavy dupatta which you no longer use it and wear it as a cape. You just need to visit your tailor with your dupatta and ask him to convert it as a cape. If you know stitching you can do it on your own as the one shown in the pic below.

THE SAREE CAPE

As Indian women, we have always loved our sarees and the chances when we get to wear these beautiful pieces of tradition and culture. We should be thankful to this fashion trend for giving us a twist to the usual saree styling is, the CAPE! Yes, capes have become a personal favorite of many fashionistas when it comes to draping the saree. Whether you wear a long, floor length cape or a short embellished crape over your saree, it is bound to make you feel like royalty!

Go sheer on your cape to make them look all the more stunning.

THE CAPE GOWN

A simple cape attached to the regular gown can add to so much. The gown cape is my personal favorite, a beautiful jumble of the regal era and the current trends.  Cape gown looks very elegant and royal, different from the veil trend, which is quite obsolete now. One should have the cape in the same color and not in contrast, as it could look gaudy. Avoid loud colors in capes; it doesn’t go very well with too much bling either.

You can team a short cape or a long cape whatever you like. You will really stand out in an evening party

It’s now time to dig into your closet to find your shrugs, capes, cardigans and what not, to style up with your saree. Fashion is what you are comfortable in. So don’t look after any fashion stereotypes, just wear what you love because you never know what you wear might become a trend setter too.

The Indian Festive Lookbook !!!

Hello Style Bunnies 🙂

Festive season is around the corner so I will be posting many ethnic outfits. With the end of this month we would be entering the last quarter of this year aka into the festive season with major Indian festivals like Navratre, Karwa chauth, Dussehra and Diwali to be celebrated. And not to forget a plenty of wedding and engagement ceremonies that you cannot miss. So while we still have time to plan outfits and sort out everything, I decided to come up with a series of outfit posts on the blog for some festive wear inspiration for you guys. Why to get bored of wearing same old sarees and anarkali suits and kurtis, so I always believe in experimenting with Indian outfits. Lets try something different yet fashionable and ethnic this festive season.

SLIT TOPS

Slit Tops have been a rage this year. Be it Side Slit or front slit, knee or floor length, these gorgeous tops have to be in everybody’s wardrobe. Style your front slit top in a fusion manner, and paired it with maxi skirt. This can be easily worn for traditional occasions. You don’t have to wear that typical lengha, saree or anarkali. Try to experiment a little. This can be teamed up with well fitted leggings or Palazzo.

JACKETS

You can style your old jacket with pallazo pants or cigerate pants. It looks ethnic yet stylish. You can use both long or short jackets. You can wear them alone or you can team up with your suit or dress.

SKIRTS

Skirts are quite in vogue this season. They are more over comfortable yet fashionable. THE ART OF ACCESSORIZING………..

BlogTitle

Hello Lovelies…. 🙂

Accessories can make any piece of clothing so versatile. And unlike clothes you can use the same accessories multiple times to create so many different looks. Always invest in good accessories. I’d rather spend less on clothes and more on accessories. An outfit for me can never be complete without the right accessories. While some find it easy to coordinate, others tend to overload. The right kind and amount of accessories could change the look of an outfit whereas over accessorizing can even make an Alexander McQueen look stale. So if you’re someone with an unstable hand and are not very good at coordination then I suggest you stick to the any two rule. What the rule says is that you can choose any 2 types of accessories for an outfit. Say either a necklace and bracelets or earrings and a belt or statement shoes and a statement necklace, so on and so forth. Let me give you a low down on how you could layer your accessories or make sure you’re not over doing it.

Bracelets

Bracelets be it in the form of cuffs or delicate dainty ones, look stunning when layered. While layering make sure to layer about 3-6 pieces. You could layer bracelets of the same colour palette or go for contrasting colours. You could even mix metals to create a fun effect. For a modern look layer bracelets along with your watch.  Make sure that the bracelets are different in style and texture for a more refined look.

Necklaces
Collar necklaces are a rage right now. Statement necklaces can add to an outfit like no other. You could either wear one necklace or layer several to create a greater impact. However make sure that you’re wearing a simple top or dress if you’re layering a bunch of necklaces. You don’t want a printed top to clash with all the necklaces. No-no

Belts
Belts are a great way of adding something more to an outfit. Like any other accessory it can help you dress up or dress down an outfit. Add a belt to a printed dress to break the look where as add a belt to a casual top and skirt ensemble to add some dimension to it. Belts with huge buckles are really in right now. But if you’re someone who loves thin belts try layering 2 belts for a different attire.

Sunglasses
Sunglasses are probably the easiest way to glam up a day outfit. Put together your outfit and add a pair of sunglasses to instantly go from causal to chic. They can totally set the mood of an outfit whether it’s your retro sunglasses, the trendy cat eyes sunglasses or even the classic aviators or wayfarers. Just make sure that your sunglasses compliment the structure of your face. And voila!

Bags
Bags add a finishing touch to an outfit. So make sure to pick one that compliments your look. A fringe bag with a lady-like dress is a complete no-no. To make sure that your bag fits the bill match the colour either to your shoes or to a hue from the outfit. If your outfit is simple add an embellished or bright coloured bag to balance it out. Also keep the event you’re going to in mind. A satchel is perfect for the day whereas a clutch or a sling bag is just about right for brunches and night outs.

Shoes
Crappy shoes can make the most perfect and well accessorized outfit look preposterous. Make sure to either wear a pair which blends well into your ensemble or if you’re wearing a simple monochrome outfit then go for printed statement shoes. A bright pair of shoes can dress up even a pair of casual tee and jeans. A pair of good shoes can not only make you feel phenomenal but it will also work wonders for your confidence.

Hello Style Bunnies 🙂

Are you bored of your old Wardrobe? After thinking for an hour whenever you step out at last you end up at wearing that same Jeans and kurti. This happens with us most of the times. My today’s blog is for those ladies, girls and busy moms who are bored of their wardrobe and want to try something new. After all Life is too short to wear boring clothes, then why not to try something which is Simple, Elegant, Comfortable and Fashionable.

I have picked some of the latest and most wearable fashion trends for women for changing your boring wardrobe into new one….

They have been in trend for a while now and why not.. Its such a bracing change from those drained out skinny legs. They are comfortable, cool and feminine but the best part is they look flattering on almost all body shapes. They give an illusion of slimmer waist and longer legs. You can dress them up or down as per the occasion which makes palazzos very versatile. Go for a solid color palazzo or floral one whichever you like and team it up with tank tops, printed tops and crop tops with some accessories.

RECYCLING YOUR INDIAN WEDDING OUTFITS…….

After months of research and swatches you finally got your wedding outfits in order. Color coordinated, jewelery and make up synced with footwear to match or compliment the outfit. But once all the hoopla is over, does that hundreds of dollars worth of outfit gets packed-never-to-see-the-daylight again? You often don’t find a suitable occasion to wear it again as the family members have already seen it and it will be too loud for a friend’s or relative’s wedding. This is the main problem for everyone and trust me i too went through this.So whether it is a lavish wedding lehenga or a gorgeous and heavy wedding saree, I will tell you here ways to recycle your wedding outfit so that you can wear it even after your wedding and cherish the memories associated with the outfit every time you wear it.

Recycling Tip 1: Break the wedding lehenga set.

Duppata – Pair the heavy dupatta with a plain raw silk suit, or a complimenting salwar kameez. Your lehenga dupatta can also be used as half saree, which is so in-vogue. All you need is some extra three meters fabric to add to your heavy dupatta which will form the base of your saree. Wear it with long sleeve plain blouse to enhance the look of the loose and most attractive end of your saree. Dupatta can also be draped over a plain skirt to give it that half-saree look.   Sabyasachi-Mukhrjee-and-his-unique-Indian-Bridal-Wear-Collection- 2503f_Makeup_Rani-Mukherjee-in-Sabyasachi-saree   Aditi-Rao-Hydari-in-Dark-Orange-Anarkali-Suits-with-White-Colour-Golden-Border-Dupatta-caring-Heavy-Necklace-at-Dwarkadas-Chandumal-Jewellers-in-Mumbai            Vikram_Phadnis_Renaissance_Hotel_Bridal_Showcase%2520%2520%25282%2529_thumb%255B1%255D

Recycling Tip 2: Add waist coat or a long jacket with the lehenga to tone down its embellishments.

Make a bold statement by getting a sheer floor length jacket made and wearing it as a jacket lehenga. Go for a nude, earthy colour jacket if your lehenga is heavy (which we are guessing is!). The sheer fabric gives an indo-western touch and makes for a perfect Mughal-inspired look. This trick is one of best ones where you establish a balance between grand and simple by hiding the bling of your Lehenga without concealing the beauty of its work.

Manish-Malhotra-Dress-Collection-2013-111038002_10202992975224912_7213456604618714746_o 11822813_10202992977584971_6015795351376182373_njbjc4m0315193_a_

Recycling Tip 3: Team up your heavy blouse with saree or plain skirt.

The bridal Lehenga blouse is a statement piece in itself with all its embellishments. You could jazz up a plain sari by teaming it with the bridal blouse. The bridal Lehenga blouse could also be worn with a contrast colour, less embellished Lehenga. This could be teamed with a simple dupatta. A beautiful option to attend another wedding.

11036527_10202992976944955_6458952259060283223_n 11110861_10202992974664898_3848197396195091455_o02a11b0f242cb79abaf2ce7a5f85882b 11836709_10202992977224962_2395148553718710271_n 11838829_10202992975024907_2133091123679433151_o

Recycling Tip 4: Transform lehanga into Anarkali suit.

Give your Lehenga a makeover by getting it attached with the blouse to convert it into a stylish anarkali silhouette. For the connecting part, go for see through fabrics if you are still that slim or some zari work fabric if you want to conceal your waistline. Pick up plain matching salwar or legging to enhance the look of upper part. You can also transform it into a gown.

Recycling Tip 5:  Wear the wedding saree with a simple blouse.

If you are wearing your heavy wedding saree for any occasion, make sure to cut down on the bling by eliminating the overtly embellished blouse. Pair the wedding saree with a simple contrasting blouse and minimal jewellery and a non-fussy hairdo. This way, only your saree will stand out while all the other elements in your outfit will remain muted.
