The Cape is everywhere and Here’s How to Rock it!!!!!

Hello Style Bunnies,

What you think about CAPE? It’s time to revamp your Indian outfits with one of these exciting options.Indian designers have incorporated it in everything from saris and gowns to skirts and pants. Yo must be seeing it on the trendy aunty at a family get-together, or on a chic office-going girl who wore a cape-cut blouse with formal trousers.

Wearing dupattas is so passe!  More and more people are switching over to capes instead of the dupatta – and why shouldn’t they?  It’s almost like a dupatta but stitched at the shoulder, so once it’s put on, you can walk around carefree. You can team this up with your anarkalis, lehengas or even shararas. Go for a sheer one if you want to show off the bodice a bit more! Capes are more trendy and more comfortable and it gives you a Diva look.

Capes are perfect for layering and if you opt for an embellished, embroidered capes then they act as a perfect substitute for accessories or heavy duty jewels with your outfit. Just wear a cape on your anarkali dress or a western wear and you are ready to flaunt your look.

Gone are the days of balancing a heavy dupatta in a wedding function. Designers like Tarun Tahiliani, Neeta Lulla and Ridhi Mehra have made it all very easy with their cape interpretation of the dupatta. It can be worn over a sharara, lehenga or gown and leaves you free from the hassle of having to pin up or hold up your dupatta all through the night. Now you also enjoy your best friend wedding without thinking about how to handle your heavy dupatta or to look for somebody who can set you dupatta.

We all have so many heavy dupattas, especially the one from our wedding functions which are only taking an extra space in our wardrobes. So this is the time ladies to take them out and flaunt them as a cape. You can transform your old wedding lehanga dupatta or any heavy dupatta which you no longer use it and wear it as a cape. You just need to visit your tailor with your dupatta and ask him to convert it as a cape. If you know stitching you can do it on your own as the one shown in the pic below.

As Indian women, we have always loved our sarees and the chances when we get to wear these beautiful pieces of tradition and culture. We should be thankful to this fashion trend for giving us a twist to the usual saree styling is, the CAPE! Yes, capes have become a personal favorite of many fashionistas when it comes to draping the saree. Whether you wear a long, floor length cape or a short embellished crape over your saree, it is bound to make you feel like royalty!

Go sheer on your cape to make them look all the more stunning.

A simple cape attached to the regular gown can add to so much. The gown cape is my personal favorite, a beautiful jumble of the regal era and the current trends.  Cape gown looks very elegant and royal, different from the veil trend, which is quite obsolete now. One should have the cape in the same color and not in contrast, as it could look gaudy. Avoid loud colors in capes; it doesn’t go very well with too much bling either.

You can team a short cape or a long cape whatever you like. You will really stand out in an evening party

It’s now time to dig into your closet to find your shrugs, capes, cardigans and what not, to style up with your saree. Fashion is what you are comfortable in. So don’t look after any fashion stereotypes, just wear what you love because you never know what you wear might become a trend setter too.

Hello Style Bunnies 🙂

Christian Dior once said: “long after one has forgotten what a woman wore, her perfume lingers on”. So, it would be pretty anti-climatic if that wasn’t the case, non? To help you make that lasting impression, here are the untold, little secrets, to keep your perfume fragrant ATT, keeping you smelling simply marvellous.

It’s all in the pulse

Most of us are guilty of committing an olfactory faux-pas by spritzing on to our clothes. Not only are you ruining your delicate georgettes and silk-linens, but you’re also wasting your precious scent. Instead, spritz onto your pulse points, that is: behind you ears, inside your wrists, the nape of your neck, inside your elbows and behind your knees. These are the warmest areas of your body and so the heat will ensure your perfume lasts all day long.

We’re always game for a Vaseline hack

Vaseline is occlusive, hence it makes your perfume last longer as compared when sprayed onto dry skin. Just take a little dab of it onto your fingers and apply to the areas before you spritz on your favourite fragrance.

Dabbing is for amateurs

When you dab your wrists together, albeit out of habit, the top notes tend to disappear faster and as a result your fragrance does not last as long. To make truly everlasting, spritz some onto your wrists and let it dry on its own.

Citrus and florals for the after-shower

The best way to lock in the scent is with the moisture on your skin. Moisture levels are high immediately after bath-time, so spritzing your perfume at this point of time will make you smell good throughout the day.

Mix your fragrance with your body lotion

Yes, this does actually work! To keep smelling awesome all day long mix your fragrance with unscented lotion and apply it every morning. But make sure your lotion is totally fragrance free so that it doesn’t overpower the scent of your perfume.

And remember, when somebody smells good, we automatically perceive them as attractive. And if that isn’t incentive enough–we don’t know what is!

The Indian Festive Lookbook !!!

Hello Style Bunnies 🙂

Festive season is around the corner so I will be posting many ethnic outfits. With the end of this month we would be entering the last quarter of this year aka into the festive season with major Indian festivals like Navratre, Karwa chauth, Dussehra and Diwali to be celebrated. And not to forget a plenty of wedding and engagement ceremonies that you cannot miss. So while we still have time to plan outfits and sort out everything, I decided to come up with a series of outfit posts on the blog for some festive wear inspiration for you guys. Why to get bored of wearing same old sarees and anarkali suits and kurtis, so I always believe in experimenting with Indian outfits. Lets try something different yet fashionable and ethnic this festive season.

Slit Tops have been a rage this year. Be it Side Slit or front slit, knee or floor length, these gorgeous tops have to be in everybody’s wardrobe. Style your front slit top in a fusion manner, and paired it with maxi skirt. This can be easily worn for traditional occasions. You don’t have to wear that typical lengha, saree or anarkali. Try to experiment a little. This can be teamed up with well fitted leggings or Palazzo.

You can style your old jacket with pallazo pants or cigerate pants. It looks ethnic yet stylish. You can use both long or short jackets. You can wear them alone or you can team up with your suit or dress.

Skirts are quite in vogue this season. They are more over comfortable yet fashionable. Style your cotton skirt with slit tops which are in vogue these days or you can also team skirt with crop tops or long kurtis. Its a fashionable look for this festive season. Don’t forget it to accessorize with some fusion jewellery.

Palazzo are quite in since long and still they are in fashion. Team up your flared palazzo with tops or ethnic kurta to create a festive look. You can also style it with slit tops.

If you want to wear saree. Then this time style your old silk saree or plain shiffon saree with heavy blouses or fusion blouses. It will really make you stand out from others. You will really look great and different with this festive season look.

Ocean Eyes Makeup Tutorial… Makeup of the Day..!!!

Hello Style Bunnies 🙂

Everyone love Beaches and Blue Ocean. It feels so calm and relaxed by being there. My today’s blog is inspired by Blue Ocean. I love Blue colour and I just thought to play with it to create ocean blue eyes look. You can carry this look at night parties, weddings and even during the day. So here goes the Tutorial for getting this look.

Step 1: Prepare your eyes by applying an eye primer you use daily.

Step 2: Then apply an eyeshadow base to make the colours pop. I applied shimmery white colour.

Step 3: Next, I patted a light blue shade ( right one in below picture) all over that base so that the colour pops out.

Step 4: Now use the dark turquoise blue colour ( left one in the picture above) on an angular brush, I pushed it on the corners of the eyes, i.e. placed it on the inner corner and on the outer curve.

Now to finish off I applied eyeliner along upper and lower lash line, filled my water line with a silver colored eye pencil and used mascara.

What do you think about this look? Let me know what your thoughts in the comments below!

Have a Beautiful Day!!!!

xoxo 🙂
