Today, I will be reviewing the newly launched (in India) The Nudes Eye Shadow Palette from Maybelline! It was launched in July in India a month ago but internationally it was launched a year ago. I got mine from Amazon.com last year when it was not launched in India. You can get it from any Lifestyle store or from Nykaa.com .
It is priced at INR. 899 and has twelve shades belonging to the nude/neutral category. It comes in a neat, sturdy and travel friendly plastic box.
12 neutral eye shadows in one pallete. The shades are mixture of mattes, shimmery and satin finishes.
If you are confused how and what to use, there’s a useful guide at the back.
The color selection is good for Indian skin tones, as all shades are warm. Eye shadows spread evenly and blend with ease. Staying power is good when applied with a good eye shadow base. It is for sure a very versatile palette.
Here are the swatches of Maybelline THE NUDES palette.
On the Top row (from left to right), the first shade is a Shimmery Cream Color and would make a gorgeous brow bone highlighter for fair skin – medium skin tones. It has glitter and the shade is suitably pigmented.
The second shade is a Satin Finish Taupe. It has average pigmentation but it is easy to apply and extremely blendable. It would make a great over all lid color for medium skin toned people.
The third shade is a Matte light peachy brown shade. It would make a gorgeous day time highlighter and despite being matte it is not chalky. It has average pigmentation.
The fourth shade is a Bronze color in satin finish. It has a decent pigmentation and look gorgeous on Indian skin tone.
The fifth shade is Matte taupe Brown color. It is extremely versatile and you can use it as an overall lid color during the day time.
The sixth shade is a Matte dark brown that leans more towards grey when blended. It is easily blendable and you can use it on your crease line.
Coming to the Bottom Row, The First shade is a Metallic light brown color. It is easily blendable and would look pretty on extremely fair skin tone.
The second shade is Matte brown color. It is a good color for fair skin tone people. You can use it for crease line.
The third shade is Metallic Gold. This shade looks gorgeous as an inner corner highlighter and is highly pigmented.
The fourth shade is purplish metallic brown color. It has more brown in it than purple and makes a wonderful choice for the easy smokey eye looks.
The fifth shade is Shimmery Champagne color. It is good for highlighting the inner corner.
The sixth shade is a very dark grey. It is not black but black. It gives a great smokey eye look and you can use it for night parties.
It is definitely worth a try if you are a makeup newbie and are looking for affordable neutral eye shadows to start with. It is probably the most affordable eyeshadow palette worth buying in India right now.
